It is my privilege to be the Head of one of the oldest and most established Preparatory Schools in the country. This is my fourth headship having had the privilege of heading up schools in South Africa and the UK. Having seen many schools in operation in many parts of the world and having worked in several distinctive Independent Prep schools both in Africa and the UK, I can say with conviction, that St Aubyn’s is quite unique.

Most schools claim to have a strong academic foundation supported by the provision of a broad extra–curriculum of sports, the arts and activity programmes and this includes the facilities to support this provision. In this respect, St Aubyn’s is similar to others. However, a school needs to distinguish itself. The academic rigour provides an opportunity for at least 75% of our children to achieve entry into highly selective and competitive Senior schools.

That said, our strong focus on pastoral care and the individual management of pupils combines with an extraordinarily rich, varied and successful range of co–curricular activities to make this school a vibrant, outward-looking and dynamic community.

Strong relationships are at the core of our mission and aims: relationships among pupils and between pupils and staff, all backed up by a partnership with parents. A Christian foundation, the school is inclusive of all faiths and backgrounds. Children respect each other’s individuality and achievements.

Our motto from 1884 still reflects our approach to teaching and to learning today: Fortiter, Fideliter, Feliciter; Bravely, Faithfully, Happily.

We invite you to join us as a member of the St Aubyn’s family.
