I am extremely honoured to be the Chair of Governors of St. Aubyn’s School.
Back in the 1950’s I was actually a pupil at the School – a very different school for boys only, much smaller and with minimal facilities – and then, as an architect, I reconnected with the School some years ago by becoming involved in the development of some of the new facilities. Since being appointed a Governor in 2015, the rate of change has been dramatic, with the building of the new Dining Hall and associated facilities, the new Nursery and most recently the refurbishment of the original building and Year 6 areas. It is a credit to the Head and the Senior Management Team in particular that the academic quality has developed just as significantly.
St. Aubyn’s (Woodford Green) School Trust is both a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales. The School Governors are Trustees and Directors accountable to the Charity Commission and Companies House. Governors are appointed by invitation of the Board, are not employees of the School and receive no remuneration for the services they provide. All income received is therefore spent on developing the best educational support for the benefit of all pupils. There is a continuing commitment by Governors to maintain a well-staffed school, offering excellent resources and modern facilities with small classes and a wide range of cultural and sports opportunities. It continues to deliver an exceptional and balanced education at all levels, both in and outside the classroom, providing pupils with a unique preparation for success at 11+ and beyond. This ongoing investment results in the majority of pupils obtaining much sought after places to continue their education at selective independent or local grammar schools.
