Congratulations to our Year 6 pupils on their outstanding 11+ results!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate 96% success, with 33 scholarships and awards across various disciplines: 15 for academic, 4 for music, 8 for sport, 3 for drama, 1 for dance, 1 for art, and 1 for chess.
Well done to all!
At our school, 11+ preparation is not just something we focus on in the final years – from Nursery through to Year 2, we centre learning on developing the core skills that underpin future success: strong literacy and numeracy, confident communication, and a love of learning. These early foundations are carefully built upon as children progress through the school.
From Year 3 onwards, we introduce timetabled reasoning lessons that cover both online and book-based testing to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for 11+ success. As pupils progress, this structured approach becomes more focused. In Year 5, we introduce academic streaming from May half-term to ensure tailored preparation in readiness for Year 6.
Our approach delivers excellent results.
At St. Aubyn’s, our three-year average is 97% for pupils receiving offers from one or more independent schools. For the 2025-2026 academic year, we are proud to have accomplished a 96% success rate for pupils applying to selective independent schools. Additionally, for entry into our three local selective schools, 97% of our pupils (39 out of 42) were offered a place.
During the previous academic year, 2024-2025, we were delighted for our pupils who achieved a 100% success rate in applying to selective independent schools. For those pupils who sat the 11+ at our three local selective schools, 96% (46 out of 48) were offered a place.
This track record reflects the strength of our teaching, the dedication of our staff, and the hard work of our pupils. Our goal is to ensure that every child reaches their full potential, equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed in their next steps.
