We aim to achieve this through providing caring staff who have a child-centred approach. The class teachers from Nursery to Year 5 and the tutors for Year 6 are responsible for the pupils’ pastoral care and emotional well-being and are the first line of communication with parents/carers. The Heads of Department also support with pastoral matters when required.
“Pupils have a hugely positive understanding and appreciation of people of faiths and cultures other than their own. Respect and tolerance are natural, everyday hallmarks of life at St. Aubyn’s.”
Independent Schools Inspectorate report, May 2022
We have two fully qualified nurses who work at different times ensuring cover from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm during term time. Several first aiders are also able to treat minor illness and injury occurring at school.
Our PSHE programme, Jigsaw (https://www.jigsawpshe.com/), brings together emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. In addition our systems of rewards, including a strong House system, emphasize the positive aspects of pastoral care.
We want our pupils to enjoy coming to school in the hope that this will lead to a love of learning that they can take with them to their next school and into adulthood.
