At St. Aubyn’s, Academic excellence is built progressively. From the earliest explorations in Nursery through to the ambitious and inclusive preparations for 11+ entrance, every stage of your child’s education is carefully designed to develop knowledge, skills, confidence, and character.
Our approach combines specialist teaching, small class sizes, a broad curriculum and a Challenge for All ethos that ensures every child is stretched according to their ability. Where a lifelong love of learning begins. Our Early Years provision, recognised by ISI as a Significant Strength (2025), builds foundations through purposeful, joyful play and exploration across all seven areas of the EYFS framework.
Children are supported to develop confidence, curiosity and the social and emotional skills that underpin all future learning. Our youngest learners begin lessons with subject specialists in French, Singing and Physical Education in purpose-built classrooms and relevant facilities such as our sports hall and Performing Arts Centre, with a dedicated Early Years team led by Mrs Claire Macneill.
In Pre-Prep, children build on their Early Years foundations with a broader, more structured curriculum that further develops core skills in literacy, numeracy and understanding of the world – with a sense of wonder and in an environment of feeling valued, our pupils become determined and inquisitive learners.
Through our Jigsaw PSHE programme, social and emotional growth sits alongside academic progress. Children broaden their engagement in subject specialist lessons, such as Art & DT and ICT, alongside an increasingly varied co-curricular programme.
Independence, ambition and preparation for what comes next. Pupils are familiar with specialist teaching across languages, music, performing, computing, and sports, as well as our Challenge for All ethos. They rise to every challenge, no matter the subject and apply themselves to develop passions beyond the classroom, utilising more than 40 weekly co-curricular activities.
Academic rigour, pastoral strength and a culture of breaking glass ceilings prepare pupils for outstanding 11+ outcomes – 97%* of pupils who sit independent school entrance exams receive an offer.

Every child supported, every child challenged. Our Challenge for All approach, led by Mrs Charlotte Six-Rais, ensures that pupils with diverse needs – whether they require additional support or further academic stretch – receive tailored, specialist attention.
Provision includes SEND support, dyslexia intervention, EAL monitoring for our 50% multilingual community, and NACE-accredited extension for high attainers – all tracked through CEM assessments.
Individual guidance, outstanding outcomes. Together at St. Aubyn’s, children and their families reach Year 6 with foundations of confidence and determination to rise to the challenges of 11+. Early preparations are woven into the curriculum from the onset of each child’s journey with us.
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our three-year rolling average: 97% of applicants received at least one offer from an independent school. Additionally, in 2026, 33 awards and scholarships were secured for academic, sport, music, drama, dance, and chess.

Our curriculum goes well beyond the National Curriculum, spanning 14+ subjects by Prep school with specialist teaching beginning in Nursery and evolving at each stage. English, mathematics, science, French, computing, art, DT, music, drama, dance and PE ensure every child develops the breadth that distinguishes confident, well-rounded learners.
Freelance instrumental instructors, LAMDA, residential trips, enrichment days and visiting authors and speakers extend learning far beyond the classroom.
