Pupils’ curriculum from Year 3 increases with specialist teaching, with sets established in Year 5. Children are taught by dedicated teachers in science, mathematics, English, languages, music, art, sport, computing and more. Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and self-discipline are actively developed, supported by small class sizes and close individual attention.

At St. Aubyn’s, Academic excellence extends far beyond the classroom. Pupils develop confidence and leadership through our councils and committees, and an extensive co-curricular programme. Additionally, school trips across each academic year increase the breadth of learning opportunities, developing well-rounded, confident individuals.
We are ambitious for each child to discover new passions, build leadership skills and understand the value of commitment. With over 40+ co-curricular activities to take part in, pupils are actively encouraged to participate.
Across St. Aubyn’s eight acres are the facilities needed to learn, play and flourish. Co-curricular activities, therefore, take place on school grounds, with some activities taking pupils beyond the familiar school setting. Whether engaging in sport, music, drama, coding, chess, creative arts or another activity, pupils develop their curiosity. The weekly programme of co-curricular activities is mostly included in school fees, with only a few requiring additional costs.

Independence is the key to a successful transition between primary and secondary education. Under the leadership of Mr Leo Milton (Head of Prep), each pupil’s journey is supported with care, high expectations and a focus on developing the tools needed – academically, socially and emotionally – for the next stages of education.
The pastoral element of the Prep curriculum plays a crucial role in promoting wellbeing through the Jigsaw PSHE programme, encouraging pupils to build positive relationships, develop emotional intelligence and engage in discussions about personal and social responsibility. Our goal is to develop confident, responsible citizens who are fully prepared for senior school and beyond.
Mr Garry Bayntun (Director of Sport) leads a competitive sports programme that builds physical resilience, teamwork and the discipline that complements academic focus.
